Citizen Services
An affidavit, a sworn statement, serves various purposes across different scenarios. To facilitate this process, we offer a blank affidavit form for your convenience. Upon completion, you’ll need to sign it in the presence of a Consul. The fee for each affidavit is $50.
Marriage in Uganda
For individuals intending to marry in Uganda, regardless of nationality, proof of single status is required. This necessitates notarization from one’s own country’s embassy, affirming legal freedom to marry. The Embassy can’t verify single status but can witness the signature on an affidavit provided by the individual. The fee for notarial services is $50 per document.
Similarly, some Ugandan authorities may request a certificate of good conduct from U.S. citizens. While the Embassy can’t verify conduct, individuals can obtain this certificate by contacting their local U.S. law enforcement. The fee for notarial services for this purpose is also $50.
Applying for a Ugandan certificate of good conduct involves various steps, including filling out an application form, paying fees, booking an appointment, and presenting required documents at the Interpol Uganda office. Power of Attorney
Granting power of attorney allows someone to act on your behalf legally. Before notarization, it’s advisable to consult a legal professional for guidance on the content of the document. The fee for notarizing a power of attorney is $50.
Acknowledgment of signature verifies the signing of a document by a particular person and is commonly used in legal and business contexts. Notarization is available only for signatures present during the process. The fee for this service is $50 per document or seal.
Public Notary
While requests for certified true copies of documents are common, the Embassy cannot provide such services. Instead, individuals should approach the issuing office for certification.
Medallion signature guarantees, necessary for certain financial transactions, are not provided by the Embassy. This service can only be performed by authorized representatives of financial institutions participating in approved programs.
For those registering an NGO in Uganda, the Embassy does not issue letters of recommendation. However, an Acknowledgement Certificate confirming the signer’s identity can be provided. This certificate can accompany a self-written introductory letter addressed to the National NGO Board, Ministry of International Affairs, Uganda.
